Personally I'm not surprised by this I've had my eye on Costa Rica for years and ever since visiting this country I've been in love with how friendly & eco conscious they are.
"Thanks to Costa Rica’s conservation efforts, forests now cover 53% of the country’s lands—a dramatic reversal after decades of severe deforestation—and 98% of its energy comes from renewable sources, a strong step toward its goal of becoming one of the world’s first decarbonized nations by 2050. The ethos of Costa Rica’s newest hotels aligns with the country’s commitment to sustainability: Nayara Tented Camp, for example, has invested in reforestation efforts while offering cliff-top glamping with unmatched views of the Arenal volcano. The eco-conscious Six Senses Papagayo—with its own organic farm—will be the ultra-luxury hotel brand’s first development in Central America. And solar panels power the new Cielo Lodge, overlooking the Pacific coastal village of Golfito. —Sucheta Rawal"
In our specific area of Playa Tambor we have an amazing turtle conservation program. Tambor Turtle Rescue does nightly walks to rescue turtle eggs from poachers, wildlife and natural conditions helping increase the population of Olive Ridley turtles. Not to mention the Scarlett Macaw program and plenty of wild life reserves designed to educate and protect nature. The entire country is amazing but we found our roots here in Playa Tambor where the ocean breeze meets the chill & easy going vibes.
Also our it's very cool to hear that recently our neighbouring town of Montezuma has recently received the international BLUE FLAG of conservation! I'll do an article on this coming up soon.
Pura Vida.
